TwelveLabs raises $100 million Series B to build video-understanding AI

TwelveLabs, a video-intelligence AI startup, raised $100 million in a Series B round co-led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and NAVER Ventures, the company said on July 1, 2026. Amazon, Radical Ventures, Korea Investment Partners, Index Ventures, Quadrille Capital and Red Bull Ventures also took part.

The raise lifts the company’s total funding to more than $207 million and ranks among the larger recent bets on AI that can search, summarize and reason over video rather than text or still images. TwelveLabs did not disclose a valuation.

The startup builds two video-understanding models, Marengo and Pegasus, which it uses to power a Video Cognition System that indexes and interprets footage. TwelveLabs said it will spend the new capital to advance those models and scale the system, and to fund expansion in San Francisco and Seoul plus new offices in New York and London, according to the funding announcement.

The company frames its goal as “video superintelligence,” a marketing label rather than a measured capability; TwelveLabs published no benchmark results with the announcement to support the term. Video understanding also remains a hard problem, and larger rivals including Google and Amazon’s own labs are pushing multimodal models into the same territory.

With Amazon on its cap table and offices opening on two more continents, the round positions TwelveLabs to compete for enterprise customers in media, security and advertising. Whether its models can hold a lead over the general-purpose systems from far better-funded labs is the test the new capital is meant to fund.
