Google's Pixel Watch 5 debuts Health Guardian features powered by SensorFM

Google launched the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, 2026, the first consumer device to run SensorFM, its wearable health foundation model, powering a set of ‘Health Guardian’ features led by breathing-emergency detection.

The watch is Google’s push to move wearables from tracking to intervention. Google says the breathing-emergency feature automatically calls emergency services in Europe when it detects a sustained drop in blood-oxygen saturation.

SensorFM, first shown by Google Research in July 2026, was trained on billions of minutes of opted-in sensor data. On the Pixel Watch 5 it also drives monthly blood-pressure trend summaries, insulin-resistance trend monitoring and sleep breathing-quality analysis, Google said.

Those are Google’s claims. The company says the underlying models were validated against clinical gold-standard measurements, but that validation has not been independently reviewed, and trend features are not diagnostic tools. Regulatory clearance governs which features appear in which markets.

On hardware, the Pixel Watch 5 adds a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, a brighter 3,000-nit display and up to 40 hours of battery life on the 45mm model.

Pre-orders opened August 12 at $399 for the 41mm model and $429 for the 45mm, with a $579 Stephen Curry special edition; general availability is set for August 20, 2026.
