Google launches Pixel 11 lineup centered on Gemini Intelligence and AI camera features

Google unveiled the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL at its Made by Google event on August 12, 2026, pinning the pitch on Gemini Intelligence rather than new hardware. The three phones cost $899, $1,099 and $1,299, with preorders opening the same day and retail availability from August 20.

The camera carries the headline AI feature. Magic Capture analyzes roughly 400 frames per shot to auto-produce a single 12-megapixel photo, Instant Night Sight runs about 4.5 times faster than the prior generation, and the Pro models add up to 120x zoom. The phones run Google’s Tensor G6 chip, which the company says is 20 percent more power-efficient, with 256GB of base storage.

On the software side, Gemini Intelligence adds Multistep Tasks that span more than 40 apps, Rambler voice dictation that strips filler words, and proactive Magic Cue suggestions. A new Sign-to-Text feature, built on Google DeepMind’s sign-language model trained on more than 100,000 hours of data across over 50 sign languages, converts signing into text on device, according to Google’s Pixel 11 announcement.

The efficiency and camera figures are Google’s own and have not been independently tested; multi-frame computational photography can also smooth away real detail while producing a cleaner image.

The generational hardware jump is modest, which is the point: Google is betting that a phone’s appeal now rests on what its AI does, not its silicon. Whether buyers pay a flagship price for software features — most of which will reach older Pixels in updates — is the open question heading into the August 20 launch.
