Tencent said Aug. 5 it is making its open-weight Hy3 model available worldwide through three platforms, after the model logged more than 68 times the API call volume of its predecessor.

Hy3, part of Tencent’s Hunyuan family, is a Mixture-of-Experts model with 295 billion total and 21 billion active parameters and up to 256,000 tokens of context, released under the Apache 2.0 license on July 6, Tencent said.

It is now available through Tencent’s WorkBuddy agent workspace – free worldwide through Aug. 31 – the Miora design studio, and Tencent Cloud’s TokenHub platform. Via OpenRouter, pricing starts at about $0.13 per million input tokens and $0.54 per million output tokens.

Tencent said Hy3 ranked first on OpenRouter’s global usage leaderboard within a week of launch. It named South Korea’s Cafe24 and Japan’s Metelix as new partners integrating the model into their AI gateway services, and said its cloud backbone spans 66 availability zones across 23 regions.

The 68x usage jump and leaderboard ranking are Tencent’s own figures and not independently verified. Free access through Aug. 31 also inflates early adoption in ways paid usage may not sustain. The wider move fits a pattern of Chinese labs releasing capable open-weight models to build developer share outside China.
