SAP completes its acquisition of data lakehouse platform Dremio

SAP has completed its acquisition of Dremio, an open, high-performance data lakehouse platform, the German software company said on July 6, 2026. The deal was first announced in May.

The purchase is aimed at a persistent enterprise problem: getting AI to work across data that lives in different systems and formats. Combining Dremio’s lakehouse with SAP’s data lets customers run analytical and AI workloads on both SAP and non-SAP data in real time, without moving or converting it, SAP said. The company said that accelerates its agentic AI capabilities and improves the economics of enterprise analytics.

Dremio’s technology is meant to query data where it sits, avoiding the copies and pipelines that slow enterprise analytics. Folding it into SAP’s platform is a bet that customers will pay to run AI directly on their existing data estates rather than rebuild them.

Deal terms and the purchase price were not disclosed. SAP also said the acquisition is part of a broader enterprise AI data push that included buying the AI startup Prior Labs, announced alongside the Dremio deal in May.

With the deal closed, the test is integration: whether Dremio’s lakehouse ships inside SAP’s stack cleanly enough to deliver the real-time, cross-source AI workloads the company is promising.
