Ryanair signs a five-year AI deal with Google Cloud for flight operations

Ryanair and Google Cloud announced a five-year data-and-AI partnership on August 12, 2026, putting Google’s tools behind the low-cost airline’s crew logistics, flight planning and back-office work.

Under the deal, Google Workspace and Google Cloud services roll out to roughly 35,000 Ryanair employees, and the airline will deploy Gemini Enterprise — Google Cloud’s agentic AI platform — for crew logistics, decision automation and corporate productivity, the companies said. Google DeepMind models including AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext are earmarked for fleet operations and maintenance scheduling.

The strategic point is redundancy. Ryanair already runs on Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud framed the agreement as a dual-cloud approach meant to reduce single-vendor outage risk as the carrier targets 300 million passengers a year by 2034. Financial terms were not disclosed.

For Google Cloud, landing Europe’s largest low-cost carrier is a reference win in a sector where reliability and cost discipline are the whole business. For Ryanair, spreading workloads across two providers cuts concentration risk but adds integration overhead.

The announcement describes intent, not results. Neither company has detailed which operations will actually run on Gemini Enterprise or DeepMind models first, and airline-scheduling automation has a long history of promising more than it delivers.
