ReliaQuest joins OpenAI's Daybreak Cyber Partner Program for GreyMatter defense

ReliaQuest said on July 20 that it is joining OpenAI’s Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, gaining access to OpenAI’s frontier AI models to build into its GreyMatter security-operations platform.
The partnership pairs ReliaQuest’s frontline security data with OpenAI’s models. The two companies will jointly identify high-impact security-operations use cases, then move them through development, testing, evaluation and production, ReliaQuest said. ReliaQuest contributes real-world threat intelligence and attacker-behavior data; OpenAI provides model access aimed at helping enterprises detect and patch vulnerabilities faster.
The framing is defensive escalation. “Cybersecurity is being reshaped by AI on both sides,” said ReliaQuest founder and chief executive Brian Murphy. “This partnership with OpenAI helps us move faster in bringing the most advanced Agentic AI capabilities into GreyMatter, so security teams can investigate and respond to threats in minutes.” The pitch rests on the same premise driving much of the sector’s spending: attackers are using AI to automate and scale intrusions, so defenders need machine speed to keep up.
ReliaQuest is not the only firm in the program. IBM has also joined Daybreak to build a new application-security service, a sign OpenAI is assembling a roster of security vendors around its models rather than backing a single partner.
How much of the “minutes, not hours” promise survives contact with real security operations centers – where false positives and alert fatigue already strain teams – will determine whether agentic cyber defense is a genuine shift or a rebranded automation pitch.
