HCLTech has reportedly signed a deal worth an estimated $1.14 billion over its initial term to build an AI-driven operating model for an unnamed Europe-based Fortune Global 50 company. The work covers the client’s global digital workplace and enterprise network operations.

The contract runs from July 2026 to December 2031, about 5.5 years, with an option to extend five more years. Reports peg the engagement at roughly $230 million in annual revenue from a single client, a meaningful line item for an IT services firm that competes on large multi-year outsourcing wins. HCLTech described the work as entirely net-new business rather than a renewal.

Investors read the signing as a growth signal. HCLTech shares rose about 5.7 percent on the BSE following the announcement, the kind of move that large, long-dated contracts tend to produce when they land as fresh revenue.

The client’s identity is not confirmed. HCLTech has not named the customer, and while several reports have pointed to Mercedes-Benz, the company has not verified that, so the buyer remains officially unnamed. The $1.14 billion figure is also an estimate tied to the initial term, not a fixed contract value, and revenue would be recognized over years rather than booked upfront.

The deal fits a broader pattern of enterprises signing multi-year contracts to fold AI into everyday IT operations rather than one-off pilots. Whether HCLTech converts the initial term into the five-year extension will show how durable this class of AI-services spending proves to be.
