Anthropic makes Claude Fable 5 permanent in Max and Team Premium plans from July 20
Anthropic said Claude Fable 5 will be included permanently in all Max and Team Premium plans at 50% of weekly usage limits from July 20, 2026.
Anthropic said Claude Fable 5 will become a permanent part of all Max and Team Premium subscription plans beginning July 20, 2026, at 50% of weekly usage limits, ending weeks of temporary access extensions.
The move settles how Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 model will be sold after a stretch of staged, temporary extensions that left subscribers unsure whether access would continue. For Max and Team Premium customers, permanent inclusion is the win; for lower tiers, it hardens a paywall.
Pro and Team Standard users will keep access to Fable 5 only through usage credits — Anthropic is issuing a one-time $100 credit — billed at application programming interface rates of $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, the company said on its official Claude account. Once the credit runs out, continued use is pay-as-you-go.
Anthropic also said standard weekly usage limits will shrink the same day, as a separate 50% rate-limit boost for Claude Code, its command-line coding tool, expires. For heavy Claude Code users, the two changes land together on July 20.
The net effect tightens value for Pro subscribers while locking in the top tiers. Whether Fable 5’s 50% cap on Max plans proves generous enough in daily use, or pushes power users toward API billing anyway, is the number to watch after July 20.
