Anthropic has reportedly submitted a confidential draft S-1 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and could file publicly for an initial public offering as soon as the end of August 2026. The offering is being sized to match or top SpaceX’s record $75 billion share sale, which reached $86.2 billion once the overallotment option is included.

That would make the Anthropic IPO filing one of the largest technology debuts on record, and a bet that public markets will keep funding an AI industry still deep in the red. Anthropic’s annualized revenue run rate reached roughly $65 billion in late July, up from about $47 billion in May 2026.

The growth underneath is steep: second-quarter 2026 revenue topped $11.5 billion, up from $787 million a year earlier.

Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase are working on the offering, and leadership is exploring super-voting shares that would preserve founder control for chief executive Dario Amodei. Such dual-class structures have become standard for founder-led tech listings, letting insiders keep board control after a float.

None of this is settled. Anthropic has not confirmed the filing, the timing or the target size, and a confidential draft can be revised or shelved before any public registration. The SpaceX comparison sets an unusually high bar: few technology issuers have ever attempted a raise on that scale, and market conditions at the end of August will shape whether the company files on the reported timeline.
